
Professor Winnie Mak

Prof. Winnie Mak is a Professor at the Department of Psychology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, with research focuses on stigma reduction and promotion of mental health. She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Association for Psychological Science, Society for Community Research and Action, and Hong Kong Psychological Society.
She is named World’s Top 2% Scientists by Elsevier and Stanford University and Top Scientists in Psychology in China by Research.com. She has served on the Advisory Group on Mental Health Promotion for the Hong Kong SAR Government. As a community-based clinical psychologist and a person with diverse lived experience, she co-founded StoryTaler and developed an online mental health platform (Jockey Club TourHeart+ Project) in Hong Kong. Her Diversity and Well-being Lab aims to promote social equity and well-being for all, and this mission drives our research and related activities.
